Im having alot of frustration trying to remove this bearing so I can fix a drive problem. Are there any secrets to getting this bearing to move?

Cheers

Matt

Yes it can be difficult.
Some models, the later ones are reduced to the max with respect to construction details normally used.
One of these is a criclip which should retain the bearing in the plate carrying the ignition and lichting spools.

But if you have a model where the bearing stays on the crankshaft you are in deep [censored].
only if you can lay you hand on the proper pulling device you are able to remove the bearing
Pulling device: long bush with endcap that has internal thread and slips over the shaft, at the lower end there is a grove on the outer diameter.
In addition to this two halves of a tube (internal diameter
same as outer diameter bearing) and two circular lips at each end
one lip should be mounted over the bearing the other lip should fit the groove.
Putting the two halve tubes around the bearing there is a fourth part that is a tube ring sliding over the two halves
to secure them.
Applying a bolt in the threaded end of the bush to push the
axle out removes the bearing.

The hard way: grinding it away using a "flex" ( at least I think this type of grinder using a grinding disc is called a "flex" in English).

Other way : You may be able to crash the outer bearing ring ( race ??) in a Vise to increase the space
and then you may be able to use a two armed leg puller on the remaining inner ring ( race?)

Thanks Joan

I have had success. I went to the local engineers supplies and bought a special bearing puller. It is really a device for griping the bearing and then you use a puller for pulling the device (complete with bearing) I could try and post some pictures for other readers if you are interested.

Now I have to get the cluch nut off!!!

Cheers
